Salt paint

glue, salt, and water color paint equals a very fun painting activity.

First spread a thick amount of glue in any design you'd like.
Spread salt all over

spot paint and watch the paint travel on it's on.
Henry enjoyed watching the color spread on it's own.

Tree Activity 30 months

After reading The Giving Tree, Henry and I decided to make a tree of our own.

Here he is gluing pom pom for leaves and decoration. red pom pom's would be more ideal but we worked with what we had.
I forgot to take a picture of the finished product. We used an old toilet paper roll for the trunk of the tree.

added this shape exercise to the lesson of the day. dotting a circle
This is a fantastic game i printed off from Kidssoup.com. i laminated each sheet and cut the apples out. You simply match the the upper case letter to the lowercase letter on the tree. A great lesson!

i had to direct him which tree the letter was on because four different trees were a bit overwhelming.

Dinosaur Fun

My son loves dinosaurs. after a visit to the Natural History Museum to see the Dino's we left with stencils to play with.
Using Tempura paint and a sponge cut into squares Henry had a some good fun.
this was a print off from a blog I checked out. I wish i could remember the name! I laminated the sheets and offer it to Henry to play with periodically.we visit the Natural History Museum often. We are fortunate to live only 25 blocks from it. Here's another purchase from a visit-squeshy mini dinos.

Baby Hans 6-7 months

we love our baby Hans!

Name Writing Lesson-29 months

Love finding books that promote early literacy. Wallace's Lists is a great motivator for Henry to write. They even have this book on video. We watched it a few times as well.

If you give a mouse a cookie

After reading If You Give a Mouse a Cookie we brought the story to life with an activity. I don't normally join preschool sites that cost money. However, Kidssoup offers age appropriate activities that have been incredibly useful for me. They provide print outs, crafts, ideas, and more. This activity comes from Kidssoup.

I cut out the printed pieces and had Henry glue them on the sheet. The print out included a mouse, a jug of milk, and cookie.

I am in the process of teaching Henry how a sentence works. So, i added the words and had him sound them out. Kidssoup provided this print out as well. Henry love this! He is sounding out the words in the picture below. I definitely need to make more of these. We finished it off enjoying our own milk and cookies.

The Gruffalo

I recently requested the book Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. I am off to purchase a copy because Henry adores it!

After reading the book we made a little puppet stage to reenact the story.
"where are you going to little brown mouse"? If you go to Julia Donaldson's site you can print off the finger puppets.

Our pretend forest.

Henry needed some more excitement to this story so we added his favorite figures: star wars, buzz lightyear, and a couple of nights.

In addition to the puppetry, we love to sing along to the Gruffalo song Happy Birthday song sung by Julia Donaldson.

Real Royal Tenenbaum House visit

Royal Tenenbaum is one of my husbands favorite films. we decided to do an impromptu dress up and a visit to the house in which is was filmed. It's pretty neat it was filmed only 30 blocks north from where we live. this was so much fun.

I love this shot. memories.

this was the corner window that had the most exposure in fim.
