Fishing -30 months

Henry goes fishing! The fish printables came from a website i cannot remember! :( You can easily make them and laminate them for durability. I used dots to easily place the magnet on each fish. The thick twine was the string for our fishing pole. During one of our nature walks we found a stick to use as our fishing pole.

i put a blue towel at the bottom of our glass bowl and pretended it was water.

he was so proud when he was able to catch them!

I asked him to sort the fish by color and count each one. Here he is doing just that. :)

Felt Number boards

I recently saw this on another blog and thought i'd give it a try. I have sand paper letters and find them very resourceful. Sand Paper boards can be expensive so i thought these felt boards would be a great alternative.i ordered the wooden circles from woodworks ltd and the felt number stickers from Michaels. I always save my 40% off coupons for majority of the things i purchase from this store.
After peeling and sticking the numbers to the disc i had Henry put them in order. He definitely needed my help! Just shows me how much a simple activity like this could teach him so much!

I had him point on each number and tell me what the number was. He did good on this part.
I am also using these boards to teach him how to write numbers. I just have him trace the numbers with his finger at this point. Even baby Hans enjoys playing with these boards. Because these are so easy and fairly inexpensive, i plan on making them for birthday gifts for others.

Sensory Box --31 months

I have a few sensory boxes that i use for Henry. i had some super old lentils laying around and thought it would be a great sensory tool for Henry. I described to him the texture and use of lentils. He loved rubbing his hands in the box for a while. we then added his favorite friends and he played with it for a good 20 minutes!I also give him a spoon to transfer from one place to another. This adds an extra motor skill to the activity.

I now let baby Hans feel the lentils with his hands. I, of course, am monitoring every second because of the size of the lentils. I keep the sensory box stored in his room for more uses.

Felt Shapes for Baby Hans 7 months

Thanks to Made by Joel for this idea! A few felt pieces, scissors, glue, and recycled cardboard we made a shape board for Baby Hans.

Salt paint

glue, salt, and water color paint equals a very fun painting activity.

First spread a thick amount of glue in any design you'd like.

Spread salt all over

spot paint and watch the paint travel on it's on.
Henry enjoyed watching the color spread on it's own.

Tree Activity 30 months

After reading The Giving Tree, Henry and I decided to make a tree of our own.

Here he is gluing pom pom for leaves and decoration. red pom pom's would be more ideal but we worked with what we had.

I forgot to take a picture of the finished product. We used an old toilet paper roll for the trunk of the tree.

This is a fantastic game i printed off from Kidssoup.com. i laminated each sheet and cut the apples out. You simply match the the upper case letter to the lowercase letter on the tree. A great lesson!

i had to direct him which tree the letter was on because four different trees were a bit overwhelming.

Dinosaur Fun

My son loves dinosaurs. after a visit to the Natural History Museum to see the Dino's we left with stencils to play with.

Using Tempura paint and a sponge cut into squares Henry had a some good fun.

this was a print off from a blog I checked out. I wish i could remember the name! I laminated the sheets and offer it to Henry to play with periodically.we visit the Natural History Museum often. We are fortunate to live only 25 blocks from it. Here's another purchase from a visit-squeshy mini dinos.
