I am absolutely in love with the 1950's film and book The Red Balloon. Henry adores balloons so i thought this would be a fun craft to do for the day. We first read the book and explained the friendship between the two.
I love living next to a library because i order nearly every book we check out from there. After reading this book we watched the film together. Brilliant might i say.
Here is a shot i took while watching the film. so adorable.
after finishing, we decided to recreate a balloon friend ourselves! Here is Henry getting ready to paint. Daddy drew a beautiful balloon for us on a large sheet of Water Color paper.
we cut it out and made crooked string to connect. Henry is mesmerized.
"You got a friend in me...You got a friend in me"
I then took the moment to teach about "Air". How do we use it, where can we see it...etc. I then showed Henry how to blow up a balloon. He, of course, just mimicked me here in this shot.
He wanted the two to be friends!
